We invite you to learn a little more about some of the prototypes our student groups presented on 25th November during the Prototype Fair in Inholland University of Applied Sciences Diemen:
“Our rainbow path idea was inspired by the local lady. She told us that there is no LGBTQ+ welcoming aspect in this area, it also makes it more lively and inclusive. We are still in the developing part and we are adding features to it.” — SJAB, Rainbow Path prototype.
“We had interviewed locals who mentioned to us that area is not green enough. We brainstormed an idea to put flower pots in the square outside and invite locals to plant creating a community. We incorporated some other ideas that we had initially for example illuminating the garden since many have said that there is not enough light which makes it feel unsafe. We also plan to put it on wheels to be able to move it.” — 4 horsewomen, Community Garden Pots prototype.
“Our project is about making the market more attractive. There is a lot of space that is not being used and we’d like to expand the market by adding more diversity while working with the community in the area. For example, bringing items that aren’t being sold to customers with lower income. We find it more sustainable. Additionally, we think to add more food tracks with the cuisines of the local’s origins making it more attractive to spend more time.” — The Placemakers, Market prototype.
“We came up with the idea to set up an outdoor cinema in collaboration with Pathe. We are still testing how we going to deal with rain, there are already festivals that did similar things. The aim is to bring people together and attract tourists to Amsterdam North. It can contribute to the overall safety in the area.” — Designers of tomorrow, Whatever The Weather Cinema prototype.
“While conducting interviews with the locals, safety issues were brought up often, especially at night. So we thought about an art route with the art done by the pupils of the local schools that leads to an outdoor theater where anyone can perform on the podium. The community can enjoy performance having drinks or talking to others.” — Anteroni, Art Route & Podium prototype.
